Reclaimed Oak Floorboards from Cox's Architectural Salvage Yard.


Antique elm & oak wide boards are increasingly rare and this is reflected in prices. As a substitute we sell new oak floorboards up to 9" wide. These are kiln dried and very competitively priced. From time to time we have other floorboards. All prices are plus V.A.T.

Rare antique reclaimed oak floorboards in widths up to
12" and lengths 6 - 8ft. About 70 sq yards available and
sold in minimum 10 sq. yard lots either as:
removed, dirty and untrimmed at £100 per sq. yd.
trimmed, coursed, cleaned and repolished at £150 per sq. yd.
We will sell individual, selected boards as is at £150 sq. yd.

Solid Oak Boards upto 8" wide
Character grade 21mm thick solid oak floorboards with sound knots of varying
sizes and plenty of grain marking which gives oak its particular appearance.

Ready to lay with tongue & groove to both edges and ends, stress relived grooves to underside. Just a light sanding required after laying and before finishing.

Kiln dried to 8-10%, we recommend in-room acclimatisation for 14
days before laying and all screeds must be thoroughly dry.* Boards of these
widths can be laid direct to screeds, on batons , chipboard or joists using
adhesives, nails or screws. We can provide you with further laying
information if required.

Boards widths available: 130mm / 170mm / 185mm and 210mm.
Normally supplied in a mixture of widths to give the floor a random look but
individual widths can be supplied if the customer prefers.

Under certain circumstances these boards can be used with underfloor heating although in
most cases we recommend using engineered oak boards as described below.

12" Wide Oak Floorboards
With antique oak floorboards being so scarce , our mill is now producing a 12" wide
(nominal 290mm) Rustic Oak floorboard at a very competitive price. This board is full of character and charm with knots of all sizes, some wild grain and the odd surface cracks.

Boards are 21mm thick, tongue and grooved along the edges and stress relieved on the back.
The boards are kiln dried 8 to 10% moisture. Lengths vary from 3' upto 12' (950mm - 3600mm)
with a maximum of 10% below 6' (1800mm) .

You can retain either a contemporary clean look, an Edwardian medium brown or go the
whole hog and produce dark oak distressed with a Tudor feel to it or anything in between.
We supply polishes,sealers and hard wax oils to suit.

A very light sanding is required after laying and before sealing, staining etc.

We recommend boards are acclimatised by storing in the room for 14 days before laying.
Any screeds must be absolutely dry and surrounding walls protected by dpc's. Wide boards
should be be screwed down. We are more than happy to provide laying information.*

Engineered Oak Boards for Underfloor Heating
An engineered oak board is one where a layer of oak is laminated to a ply backboard.
Oak is a living material and moves according to the moisture and temperature of the atmosphere.
Whilst solid oak boards are fine for most applications we recommend an engineered oak board
for laying over underfloor heating systems where the wood is subjected to higher than usual
temperature and moisture changes.We use a 14mm substrata with 6mm wear layer of solid oak.
Standard width board is a generous 220mm. Lengths normally 2- 2.3m
